Healthier version of Apple Crisp

What happens when I notice the first signs of fall? I get the baking bug and want to bake everything! I can’t do that and stay healthy so I compromise and try to imagine healthier recipes to try. We have had several rainy days lately and the rain and foggy conditions turn my mind to fall baking and apples. I love any apple dishes but apple crisp makes my heart sing. I love that like many things I cook and bake that you can change the ingredients and make it a little more healthy or more decadent. As with most times, healthy wins out. First, I preheated the oven to 400. In my baking dish which I sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, I added 3 apples and cored and diced, rough chopped 1/2 cup of pecans, added 1 t cinnamon, sprinkled over top and 2 T brown sugar spread out on top as well. Next, I took 2 T spice cake mix and sprinkled it on top of the brown sugar. Then, I took 2 T homemade ghee and spread it out over top and baked at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. The pecans browned so good and everything just melds together and tastes like fall on a dish! There is approximately 950 calories in the whole dish and there is 4 reasonable portions so that’s not too bad I think as I strengthen my resolve to not eat it all! You could add dates, walnuts, apple pie spice, oats and seeds of any type and still have an equally tasty dish.
